Michael Beale spoke in the January transfer window about potential targets, in particular that he was looking to add a goalkeeper and striker in the summer and that he was hoping to bring another senior centre-half to the club.

Former target Jake Cooper’s name re-emerged but one surprise link who revealed that he was close to signing for the club during Steven Gerrard’s tenure was Rade Dugalic and, speaking to a Serbian media outlet, via The Daily Record, the 30-year old has made it clear that he would love to call Ibrox home when asked about recent speculation:

“Honestly, it certainly please me.

“I think it’s a long way off. Certainly, it would be the crowning glory of my career to play in Scotland and for Rangers, who I always liked more than Celtic.”

I’d be disappointed if Dugalic was the type of player that Beale was talking about when he said that he was looking at improving our depth at centre-half.

James Sands has returned to New York City so he definitely won’t be here next season and Filip Helander doesn’t appear to be any closer to a return to training and, with every passing day, the chances of him being offered a new deal get even slimmer.

That leaves Beale with Leon King and John Souttar as back-up options although the latter appears to be equally as cursed as the big Swede having only played 45 minutes all season.

Dugalic might dream of a move to Rangers, however, I’d be very surprised if that dream ever becomes a reality.
