New week, new month and there is plenty of excitement coming for everyone in the Rangers camp.

Steven Gerrard’s Gers could officially be champions by the end of this week if his team produce two wins and Celtic fail to take home all three points from Tannadice on Sunday.

That throws up the possibility of Rangers clinching the league without kicking a ball but as things stand, it is out of the control of everyone at Ibrox.

It is not the only anomaly provided by the fixture list at present.

The next two games come before the team from Parkhead kick another ball.

If they do win away to Dundee United then all comes down to the Old Firm clash on 21st March with Rangers needing only a draw to be confirmed as worthy winners of this season’s SPFL Premiership.

What a day that could be!

In between those league fixtures is the massive spectacle that is the Last 16 of the Europa League.

Rangers have home advantage in the second leg which is often beneficial but the opposite was the case back in 2007/08 when Walter Smith mastered a defensive minded approach to secure a place in the Manchester final.

The games against Slavia Prague will be fascinating as they are winnable with progress far from beyond the reach of Gerrard’s team.

The reason for no scheduled game in between those two encounters is due to the ongoing postponement of the Scottish Cup – the quarter-finals were due to take place on the weekend of 13/14th March.

An international slot is in place to end of the month with most countries involved playing three times.

This all means that assuming our rivals take maximum points in their next game, it gives Rangers three league games this month to secure the seven point swing required.

It’s coming – the March to the title is here!
