Club 1872 has launched it’s legacy membership scheme with the ultimate plan of securing enough funding to acquire Dave King’s shares in Rangers, making the fans the biggest single shareholder in the club.

The Herald has reported on the momentous news which could forever change the ownership of the Ibrox side with the main driver being to protect it from some of the events we have witnessed over the last decade.

A statement from Club 1872 said of the potential deal that gives every fan the opportunity to invest in the club either in a lump sum or over a period of time:

“When we say this is a once in generation chance, we mean it. This opportunity has only arisen due to the relationship that Club 1872 has built with Dave King over several years.

“He is making good on his promise to ensure that supporters will always retain a meaningful voice in our club and can ensure that the events of 2012 never happen again. He is also giving a huge, personal vote of confidence to Club 1872 as the vehicle to achieve that.

“If we do not take this chance now then it will most likely never come around again. If we don’t do this then who will? Make joining Club 1872 your legacy to your children, your grandchildren and your football club.”

Who scored Rangers first competitive goal of the season?

Not many fans get a genuine chance to become the major shareholders in their club and get a say in how it is run, not only this but given our experiences, owning 25% would allow us the security of knowing that we can block those that would do us harm.

King has been true to his word throughout his tenure as chairman and beyond, what once seemed like a pipe dream is now a reality.
