Rangers fans battle for equality in how they are reported on continued into this week after The Daily Record released a statement confirming that it is investigating a number of journalists who have used discriminatory language in the past.
A number of historical tweets from some of our writers have come to our attention. The Daily Record takes any claims of discrimination or hate speech very seriously and we have launched a full investigation into the matter.

At the risk of sounding like a 7-year old, The Record very much “started it” when they targeted the Heart and Hand podcast’s David Edgar, Ian Hogg and Cameron Bell, demanding that Rangers remove them as an official media partner because of historical posts made by them.
This has seen a concerted effort by fans where, whilst not condoning the actions of Hogg and Bell, they have targeted their accusers who themselves have been less than perfect.
These are the people demanding we be cancelled… https://t.co/OzxzgOqTjT

Fans took to Twitter after The Record’s announcement, letting it be known that this is far from over and that it will continue until their is a fair representation of them and their club by Scotland’s media.
Genuine question, if you’ve seen the tweets from ur writers what are you investigating? For H&H they stepped down within 24 hours under pressure. Surely you will follow suit?

Are you going to not cover any scottish football until this is cleared up and people are sacked?
After all. You demanded the same of H+H

The whole idea of your attack on the 2 @ibroxrocks boys was to get them to quit, they did that and have apologised profusely for their actions, I assume the 9 (nine) journalists involved will do the same? Parity is all that’s required, no more no less..

The number and type of tweets indicates a serious institutionally sectarian element within the DR, what will the owners do to root out what is clearly a systemic, ingrained problem? Is it even possible given it seems so prevelant, maybe the moral thing to do is just shut it down.

Name them on the front page with pics of them. Give them the same treatment you gave some podders. Make clear the sectarian bigotry/homophobia/racism they were involved in. Then you may get taken seriously

@Daily_Record It’s very clear, withdraw your report on the Heart and Hand podcast OR follow those same expectations with your own staff. @markhmcgivern @tedermeatballs @robacopeland Jack Currie @MichaelGannon All must be dismissed if you apply the same logic. @ibroxrocks

We can’t comment any further until our enquiry is complete. What enquiry did Cammy and Hoggy get?
Will your writers be named & plastered all over your front page?
Have you reported them to PS?
Double standards & rank hypocrisy. Who’ surprised
What a grubby little rag.— Gordon Ross (@ClearBlueAir) September 5, 2021
I’m pretty sure that if The Record could turn back the clock, they wouldn’t publish the story about the Heart and Hand contributors, or they would at least make sure their own house was in order first – stones and glass houses and all that.
