Craig Moore enjoyed a trophy laden career at Rangers, playing under some of the club’s greatest managers and with Ibrox legends in the process, he is as well placed as any to judge the current side’s chances of success.

Speaking to The Daily Record, the no-nonsense centre-half hasn’t ruled out a record breaking season for Steven Gerrard given the form that has been shown so far:

“The way Rangers have performed throughout this season you wouldn’t rule anything out.

“They have played extremely well. Even the odd game where they might have performed better they have gone out and got the result.

“Titles are won on those tough days when you’ve not been at your best but you still manage to get a result.

“It’s incredible they are still unbeaten.

“So can they break the points record? What they have shown so far it’s certainly possible.

“You won’t hear that inside Ibrox – Steven Gerrard’s message from day one has been stay humble – but if it happens then it would be fantastic.

“Records are there to be broken and if you start talking 100 points then that’s an incredible season.”

Moore, is of course correct, in that there won’t be any talk of points totals or breaking records inside Auchenhowie, it will all be about the preparation for the next fixture and getting the next three points, nothing more.

Can Rangers break 100 points?

Yes

Yes

No

No

There is also an easy reminder to help guard against complacency in the shape of St Mirren still hovering in the background, nothing will be taken for granted in the remaining fixtures.

Breaking records would be nice, but there is only one thing that matters, and all that has ever mattered to Rangers – winning – every game, one at a time.
