Now it has been confirmed that Rangers have had positive Covid tests within the club bubble, fans face an anxious wait to find out who is involved.

At the centre of the situation, is the club’s travel arrangements for Sunday’s fixture v Ross County in Dingwall.

VitalRangers understands that the squad and staff travelled to the game in three coaches.

The statement released earlier from Ibrox included:

“Those identified as positive are now in self isolation along with ‘close contacts’.”

To complicate the situation, we don’t know how many players are fully vaccinated.

Those who are and who then return a negative PCR test, with no symptoms would not be required to self-isolate.

Contacts

This brings us back to the matter of who has tested positive and the situation of those around them on the coach for the journey north.

With the party split across more than one bus (we believe it was three) this obviously minimises the risk to the squad but the full extent of the damage won’t be known until the full details are released.

It is a significant blow ahead of the trip to the Caucasus tomorrow, to take on the Armenian champions Alashkert in the Europa League Playoff 2nd leg.

The health of those involved is the most important thing but it will create opportunites for others in the squad to play their part.

A massive few days for everyone at the club has been heightened along with the tension and anxiety that accompanies this update.

Unfortunately, Rangers will just have to roll with it and get on with the job – no excuses will be offered at Ibrox.
