The current form of Rangers will no doubt see our players attracting interest from across the continent and, with the latter stages of the Europa League supplementing the possibility of silverware, offers would need to be too good to turn down to tempt Steven Gerrard’s stars away.

The Championship in England is not, with all due respect, at this level and with respected social media site EFL Hub linking Connor Goldson with a move to Sheffield Wednesday and Nottingham Forest, it’s safe to say that this rumour can be put to bed pretty quickly.

That Forest value Joe Worrall – yes, that one – at upwards of £10million gives an indication of what we are dealing with, they also signed Scott McKenna in the summer for £3m plus £2m in add-ons, what they think they’d have to pay for one of the first names on our team-sheet, who never misses a game and is our vice-captain is anyone’s guess – that rumours of £6m Premier League interest was dismissed in the summer says it all.

Forest currently sit 19th and Sheff Wed 21st, who in their right mind would give up what is currently on the table for Goldson and that’s ignoring the prospect of Champions League football next season?

It’s just the latest in a long line of articles and stories that paints the Scottish Premiership as one of football’s backwaters, yes, we might not have the finances of the English game, but Rangers are one of the biggest names in world football and are now a genuine presence on the European stage, to suggest that a player of Goldson’s calibre would swap Ibrox to potentially end up in League One is hilarious.
