The transfer window has been shut a few weeks now and yet there is still no sign of any of our key players signing extensions to their current Rangers contracts.

One man in particular is starting to be a cause for concern with Connor Goldson getting closer every day to being able to discuss a pre-contract agreement with potential suitors.

And it is this that has led former England keeper, Paul Robinson, to claim that the Gers vice-captain has had his head turned, as reported by Football Insider:

“He played a lot of games last year, he’s an integral part of the team.

“When a player goes this far without signing a new deal, the writing is on the wall.

“If he was going to sign a new contract, he would’ve done it by now.

“He’s obviously had his head turned by someone south of the border.”

Robinson might be right, yes, there hasn’t been anything negative coming from the club or the player but all it takes is a Premier League side to pick up the phone and we could be in trouble, Goldson is hugely important to Steven Gerrard but it just doesn’t look good that he has been so hesitant in committing his future.

Which former Celtic striker currently plays for Lyon?

The highs of last season were always going to be hard to replicate but we need some good news, if the club announced that Goldson was here for good, it would certainly lift spirits and remove any possible doubt about his focus.
