If you are already on thin ice with the Rangers support, the worst possible thing you could say is that you pretty much gave up at half-time in the semi-final of a cup.
Even worse when it comes from one of your leadership group, the vice-captain.
Connor Goldson’s contract status has been an issue all season with many Rangers fans using it as a stick to beat him with after any sub-par performance or on the occasions that he has made simple errors.
I doubt that when he steps onto the pitch he is thinking about his short, medium or long-term future but, in such an important season, that he hasn’t even considered extending by just one year opens himself up for criticism.
That criticism was ramped up significantly when he blamed a lack of hunger and fight for our demise against HIbs rather than accepting that we simply aren’t doing the basics right, FIlip Helander’s worth increasing with every game that he is absent.
Fans took to social media to vent their frustrations at Goldson, and these are just the ones that are fit for publication…
“3 nil down game gone” – when did we read or hear Struth, Caldow, Greig, Amoruso, Butcher or Ferguson say these words 🤬 never. #55 is gone we moved on but some players are still dreaming it. They will only be remembered for their last game hopefully that was today 🤔🇬🇧

naive to speak so honestly publicly after such a poor team performance, only added fuel to the fire around his own contract situation and poor form

How can a professional footballer, someone that dreamed all their life of winning trophies & playing in big games infront of big crowds lose their hunger
I suppose that’s the difference between serial winners and serial losers who have a one hit wonder

Goldson is working his ticket so hard I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s on the blower to Micheal O’halloran for cup final tickets in the Celtic end.

The more you listen to Goldson & his interview the more angry you get.
To claim Rangers players have lost hunger & then say the game was done at half time is unforgivable & unpardonable. I don’t see a way back for that clown

Really think Goldson is the last one who should be accusing others of letting their standards drop.

Safe to say Goldson’s time at the club is finished? pic.twitter.com/NUjhxCN97q

That Goldson missed a sitter to make it 3-2 with around ten minutes of the game left doesn’t help his cause, it wasn’t an irretrievable situation at half-time but the stats said it all, Hibs had three shots, three on target and scored from them all, something is wrong and Van Bronckhorst doesn’t have long to fix it.
