Rangers have confirmed contract extensions for three players coming through the youth ranks at the club – Rhys Breen, Brian Kinnear and Lewis Budinauckas – delivering the news on Twitter today.

All three had deals expiring at the end of this season but they have now been signed up for a further year to the summer of 2020.

Kinnear and Budinauckas are both goalkeepers and have been working with the U18s side, with the latter part of the recent Alkass International Cup win over Roma that had fans very excited about the potential of academy players.

Breen meanwhile, a central defender, is already on the fringes of the first-team squad, having trained with senior players at the training centre.

Fans have been left frustrated by the lack of prospects currently coming through the academy into the first team but clearly the club see these three as players with potential.

Hopefully these deals give them the platform to push on and impress Steven Gerrard and his backroom staff even more.
