Without going into too many details, you couldn’t get more of a Rangers supporting family than St Mirren’s Dylan Reid’s, the Scotland youth cap who, if reports are to believed, has just rejected the opportunity to move to Celtic.

The 17-year old is very highly thought of with Benfica having him on trial and Bayern Munich also said to be keeping an eye on him, however, after knocking back a decent move, he must have his eye on fulfilling his dream and on sealing a switch to Ibrox.

Midfield is an area, below the first-team, where we are already in pretty good shape. The youngsters around Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s squad already includes Alex Lowry, Charlie McCann and Cole McKinnon who is now out on loan at Partick Thistle.

These boys are seriously talented and have every chance of becoming regulars in the senior side but if Reid, who is primarily a defensive midfielder, has a stand out season in Paisley, then there is no reason why a move wouldn’t be on the cards.

This summer has seen a massive turnover of players at Under-18 level and Reid’s name has been mentioned as a potential target, you get the feeling that he wouldn’t take much persuasion should an offer be presented – put it this way, he would be for the high jump off his dad if he turned down the chance to sign for the club he has supported all his life.
