Wilson must overcome major agent obstacle to land Souttar

|

With his displays for Hearts against Rangers and Celtic and recent man of the match performance for Scotland, there would be few objecting voices in the 49,000 that were at Ibrox on Saturday if it was announced that he was to make the short journey across the M8 and sign for The Famous.

He is now able to speak to clubs about a pre-contract agreement and, as long-term admirers, it would beĀ  a surprise if we haven’t at least touched base with his representatives, there is though, just one problem – who his agent is.

Put it this way, if, as according to reports, both us and Celtic are in for Souttar, one side could find negotiations an awful lot easier, given that a former captain of the Parkhead side is the man responsible for the Hearts centre-half.

Jackie McNamara is a director of Consilium Sports Group whose list of clients also include Greg Taylor, Josh Campbell and Zander Clark, interestingly, not a single Rangers player according to Transfermarkt.

For a man who only last season described Rangers as “not even a good team” when we were in the middle of an invincible league campaign, it’s safe to assume that Ibrox is not going to be high on his list of preferred destinations.

It’s petty but, in fairness, I’d expect a “Rangers minded” agent to do exactly the same if it was the other way round – we can only hope that Souttar sees himself playing more regularly for Rangers or that Ross Wilson is smarter than a guy who thought that a team who won the league by over 20 points weren’t that good.

Give me peace, this article is nothing but opinion on that a connection to Celtic will mean we would be in a place to not even compete. Mind you, where is the writers’ connections to show we are even interested in Souttar. This is why Vital Football, HITC etc etc are all just nonsense reads.
