Celtic recruitment shambles that has left Rangers laughing all the way to title

For all that Celtic’s result against St Mirren was funny, what stuck out for me the most was the sheer lack of depth, or talent, on their bench.

Bearing in mind that Vasilis Barkas, Albian Ajeti and Patryk Klimala cost the best part of £15million, for them not to be trusted – at home – against St Mirren speaks volumes about how valued they are by the coaching staff at Parkhead, imagine the grief Steven Gerrard would be getting if he had wasted such sums, at least the likes of Jordan Jones, Greg Stewart, Brandon Barker and George Edmundson cost less than £1m combined.

There is no way that Neil Lennon is going to be trusted with rebuilding his squad, especially when you consider that he has thrown it under a bus more than a few times this season, the number of gaps that will need to be filled is incredible.

They had all their eggs in the “10” basket, and now they are well and truly broken.

If they don’t replace their keeper, they will have the same issue as this season, Diego Laxalt, Shane Duffy and Mohamed Elyounoussi will all depart, Olivier Ntcham, Kristoffer Ajer, Ryan Christie and Odsonne Edouard all want to leave, Jeremie Frimpong has already jumped ship.

This leaves Scott Brown, Nir Bitton, Greg Taylor and Leigh Griffiths still as integral members of the squad, forgive me if I’m not shaking in my boots, remember when they used to say not one of our players would get in their squad? Oh, how we laughed.
