Celtic will “score as many as they want” claims BBC pundit ahead of Old Firm

Celtic have been tipped to steamroller Rangers at Ibrox on Sunday, not by the likes of Chris Sutton or John Hartson but by a former player.

I use the term loosely given that the player in question is Richard Foster, a far from popular individual amongst Gers fans given some of his performances in his second spell with the club in the lower leagues.

Speaking on BBC Sportscene, and reported by The Daily Record, analysing Rangers performance against Alashkert, the Partick Thistle full-back said:

“If they play like that on Sunday Celtic will score as many as they want I think.

“The heat probably played a factor, they never got to play their normal game, where they kind of hunt in packs and press teams.

“Then that just kind of got it’s way though their whole performance and they just never got going.

“Saying that, Morelos should still score three goals. The last one he has probably got to header it.

“It’s not a convincing performance, but the main thing is they are through to the next round.

“I think on recent performances, I think Celtic are the favourites.”

There are two things we know about the respective form of either Old Firm side; Rangers aren’t firing on all cyclinders and Celtic, whenever they face a team with a decent attack, look decidedly ropey at the back – the safe money is definitely on both teams to score and over 2.5 goals on Sunday!

Foster made the comments before they lost 2-1 to AZ Alkmaar in which thy could easily have conceded another 2-3 goals and were completely at fault for the goals they conceded.

We all know that form goes out the window in derbies, hopefully Rangers rediscover theirs and Alfredo Morelos finds his shooting boots again in time for one of the most eagerly anticipated Old Firms in years.
