What, as Rangers fans, can we take out of Celtic’s 1-1 draw with Midtjylland?

Well, it’s that they are short of quite a few players and that their best ones remain the ones that are probably going to be leaving the club.

There is, however, a more noticeable tactical shift that could play out in our favour. Despite it being a home game – away goals don’t count anymore remember – they were very open in their approach and when you looked across their midfield and defence, they are lacking any really commanding figures both in terms of leadership and physicality, plus they are intent on inverting their full-backs which will leave space for our own full-backs to attack.

If Celtic want to go toe-to-toe with us then it would suit the way that we play on the break, similar to what we see in the Europa League when “Beale-ball” is at it’s best, it doesn’t look like Ange Postecoglou is going to set his team up to protect the biggest vulnerability in their team – the goalkeeper.

This is a Midtjylland team that we put seven goals past, with players like Jordan Jones being hugely influential, they also had a better squad when we faced them and currently have several players missing, regardless of what stage of preparations Celtic are at, they should be beating them at home.

It’s early stages but already Postecoglou has shown signs of irritation, both with the press and his own board and lack of activity in the transfer market, my how times have changed.
