Second to getting the result, the one thing that every Rangers fan would have wanted was for Cedric Itten  to score against Falkirk on Sunday, however, despite going close on a couple of occasions and not for the want of trying, he was unable to find the net.

But a deeper look at the Swiss international’s statistics show that he is more than playing his part in the impressive start that Steven Gerrard’s side has made this season.

In the four games that the £3.6million rated Itten has lined up for from the first whistle, Rangers have won all four games with a combined scoreline of 12-0, similar to Alfredo Morelos, there is so much more to his game than goals.

He has made 14 appearances in total, however, his minutes total up to just five full games of action and with two goals and one assist he has shown that he is capable of contributing, his double against Motherwell highlighting his technical ability and movement in and around the box.

Who scored Rangers first competitive goal of the season?

Against Falkirk, his towering header led to Calvin Bassey getting the second goal of the evening, it doesn’t go down as an assist but it is worthy of a mention and is typical of his involvement so far, that he is doing this from a wider position rather than his preferred central attacking role is testament to his flexibility as a forward.

Who scored Rangers first competitive goal of the season?

Itten hasn’t been signed to score 40 goals this season, he has been signed to support the likes of Morelos and Roofe and, at the moment, he is performing the task admirably, eventually he will be trusted to play a bigger part and as he has shown so far, we have nothing to worry about when he does.
