With little chance of Steve Clarke ever picking his best players and giving Nathan Patterson and Jon McLaughlin a run out, Gers fans are looking elsewhere to watch the boys in blue at this summer’s European Championships.

Glen Kamara’s reputation has only been enhanced, however, we are yet to see Filip Helander or Borna Barisic much to the frustration of both the players and the watching faithful.

Despite the Croatian’s lack of game time, interest in the 28-year old has intensified with several Premier League clubs said to be interested in acquiring his services, with former Rangers right-back, Alan Hutton, tipping a move to Leeds United as the perfect fit, as reported by Football Insider:

“Leeds play attacking football the way Rangers do. They get forward, balls into the box, he obviously ticks all the boxes.

“He’s had experience at a high level, he’s a Croatia international so you know he plays at a high level.

“We’ve spoken about how Leeds are searching for a left-back and I think the draw of the Premier League is absolutely huge for any player.

“It’s one of those, as a Rangers fan I don’t want to see him go because he’s done excellently. I totally understand that Leeds are also a big team that play in the Premier League.”

It’s bittersweet seeing our players on the international stage, it’s great to see us represented as a club again but it has it’s downfalls, especially now that the Premier League is miles away from our own financial reach.

How many players do Rangers have at the Euros this summer?

We will need to sell players going forwards and as long as the value that has been set by the club is met, there isn’t much we can do. The class of “55” will always be fondly remembered though and any that do head off will do so with supporters’ best wishes – and maybe the tiniest bit of moisture in the eyes.
