Fashion Sakala is on his way to becoming a Rangers player for next season, according to press sources.

Media reports and speculation are growing on the prospects of the Zambian international making the move to Rangers from Oostende in Belgium.

This story has been building for some time – as well as Rangers, the player has been courted by Lille and West Ham were also credited with an interest in the 24-year old.

The Daily Record have reported that Sakala has received an offer from Rangers that he is keen to accept:

“The Scottish champions are confident a deal will be sealed and the move is expected to be progressed this week with a pre-contract agreement likely after that.”

“Sakala has already held positive talks with Rangers and is close to agreeing personal terms.”

“The African had more lucrative offers from the Middle East and Europe but has made it clear that Rangers is his preferred choice.”

“He has been impressed with their pitch and wants the chance to play under Steven GerrardĀ in theĀ Champions League.”

A full profile of the versatile attacker was also compiled by the Record.

“Fashion Sakala is an international for Zambia, whose nickname are the ‘Copper Bullets’ thanks to the large quantities of copper the nation produces.”

He is primarily a striker, but his rapid pace and dynamism make him an option as a wide player too.

“The Zambian international isn’t a target man, preferring to use his pace to get in behind the defence from a deep or wide position.”

He is direct and dangerous, but far from the finished article so further development will be required under the leadership of Gerrard and his coaching team.

A Bosman deal could be imminent and there has been talk online amongst Rangers fan forums from close sources that this deal is on.

VitalRangers will have you covered on this story as it develops.
