Michael Beale is going to be the next Rangers manager, probably, so why the hold-up?

The former Rangers first-team coach is being widely reported as the top target and the man to replace Giovanni van Bronckhorst but, as yet, there has been no official announcement and no official approach for the current QPR boss.

The bookies and the press don’t always get it right and, as seen by QPR’s Twitter page, it was very much business as usual for Beale yesterday.

Rangers took their time to sack Van Bronckhorst which suggested that they already had a replacement lined up, however, there hasn’t even been the slightest hint of Ross Wilson and Stewart Roberston being caught on camera meeting potential applicants.

You would think that if Beale was the number one target, it would have been a relatively quick process seeing as his interest could have been confirmed with a simple phone call, the rest would be a formality. There would also barely be any need for an interview, given how long he was at the club.

For once though, it looks like the board has actually undergone a thorough recruitment process and is interviewing other candidates. The sacking of Van Bronckhorst was neither a surprise nor a shock; they would have had plenty of time to identify potential replacements. It’s been two weeks since we dropped points to St Mirren.

The players return to training next week so having someone in charge for their first day back has to be a priority, there’s one thing taking your time to make the right decision, it’s another to dawdle and waste it.

If I was in charge and all the press and stories were about Beale and he wasn` t my choice , I would let them run with it for a couple of reasons .Firstly it gives you space to talk to others and secondly its great watching those ” in the know ” getting it totally wrong.
