When Steven Gerrard inherited the Rangers squad, it was evident that he had considerable work to enhance the quality of the Gers. Since assuming managerial duties, the Liverpool icon has wasted no time, as he has already completed six signings and the latest reports indicate that Rangers are hopeful of signing another four players.

Rangers have completed seven summer signings, six of which were acquired with Gerrard as manager, and the Scotsman reports that the newly-appointed Rangers boss is hopeful of completing another four deals before the conclusion of the summer transfer window. The following quotes are from the Sun.

“I am also aware that if we get the areas sorted out that we feel need sorted it will make the squad too big.”

“We will have to edge a few out and be honest with people and say to them that maybe they are not going to get the game time they want.”

“But they are making it very tough because training has been very intense, it has been quality, and everyone is pushing to stay here, which is a good thing.”

To his credit, three of Rangers’ seven summer signings have been defensive recruits, in an attempt to solidify and stabilise the Gers’ defensive unit. Without question, Rangers’ defence was abysmal in the Scottish Premiership last season, having conceded a staggering total of 50 goals in 38 games. By contrast, Celtic only shipped 25 goals, which further reinforces the significance of Rangers’ defensive signings.

Furthermore, the arrivals of Arfield and Ejaria will provide the Gers with dynamism and Premier League pedigree. To date, Rangers have succeeded to sign a balanced group of players, striking an ideal combination of youth and experience. Evidently, Gerrard has identified Rangers’ weaknesses and has intervened to eradicate those issues. Rangers could be poised for an exhilarating season if the Gers continue with their astute transfer business.

  • ” Rangers ” entered liquidation in 2012 and the new club is a basket case, just like most of its fans.
Sevco is its name, and it’s potless.

    Happy to be of assistance.

BTW. In managerial terms Stevie Gump doesn’t know his ar se from his elbow.

Happy to be of assistance and…..Hail Hail!

    • Happy to be of assistance? You sound a little worried about some real competition! Can you gloat being the winner of a one horse race?

      • If it has been a one horse race and your tribute act have participated, what does that make your team, donkeys is a good bet.

        • You really believe after everything the club went through we’d get back to the Premiership and instantly be title contenders…? Plenty of work still to be done, your foundations weren’t ripped out and we got closer than I thought we would. I guess you expect to win by a bigger margin next season if we’re that bad? If you don’t, you obviously fail and your dominance is on the wane.

    • Sounds like another obsessed. Why are you even reading gers pages. No self respecting ger would log into your trash. Couldn’t even tell you if you gave signed oer released any players. Not interested. But as they say. It’s all about the rangers… W. A. T. P

  • Rangers…oops ,sorry, ‘Sevco’…..are doing everything possible to challenge Aberdeen for second place. They are unlikely to succeed. Meanwhile Celtic are in a galaxy far , far away……….

    • A galaxy far far away – yeah I agree. Challenge awaits you says Yoda. He also said something about pride before a fall didn’t he? Or wasn’t that the darkside? I’m not sure what translation would apply to football.

Of course, we start with Aberdeen, they are the challenge, we’ve already seen off the rest despite recent promotion, so Aberdeen first, and then Celtic and Rodgers will cry.

He knows Gerrard has now cured all the bad issues with his ‘astute’ signings, apart from the fact most of them were done or in the pipeline before he started and without having seen them play a pre season game never mind a competitive one?? Maybe time to take off the boooo tinted specs and see how things really look.

“Furthermore, the arrivals of Arfield and Ejaria will provide the Gers with dynamism and Premier League pedigree.”

Kind of slips the writers mind that these players have been let go because a team does not believe they are ‘Premier League Pedigree’.

    ????????????????

    • You working at rangers mate you seem to have alot of info! 1 player arfield was aigned before gerrard came in and thats arfield. The rest was gerrard giving them the green light. The fear is setting in at peado dome!
