Rangers are back.

I appreciate that might seem like an awful lot of hubris after a 1-1 draw at home but a quick look around social media tells you everything you need to know.

Celtic fans celebrated Hearts late equaliser in the same way we celebrated Scott McDonald’s heroics in 2005, as they closed the gap to four points and climbed into fourth place in the league, every decision that may or may not have gone in our favour is also being scrutinised like never before in the worst conspiracyย of all time.

There was also the response of some well kent Hearts fans who, bizarrely, reacted as if they had scored a last minute winner, fans only react like this when they achieve something they didn’t expect, or over achieve – this wasn’t the sort of reaction you’d expect from a draw between the two teams at the top of the table.

Last season is gone. Invincible seasons are few and far between for a reason, they aren’t easy and Rangers fans need to stop comparing this year to last – it’s simply too high a standard to repeat.

What we have to realise that – moreso than ever before – we are the team that teams will try their hardest against, we only need to look at the games against Motherwell, Dundee and Ross County, none of them are particularly high flying and yet we struggled to see them off.

Steven Gerrard’s men are champions for a reason, we are also top of the league for a reason but history counts for nothing at 3pm on a match day – we need to remind these teams why we are the best and put games beyond doubt, we have to be relentless again.
