Rangers announce departure of 22-year old Scotland youth cap as winger seeks Premiership games time

|

Rangers winger, Jake Hastie, has joined Motherwell on loan with the Ibrox club having the option of recalling him in the January, the club’s official website revealed this morning.

Hastie made just one appearance for Rangers last season in the early rounds of the Europa League qualifying campaign before being sent out on loan for the first half of the season at Rotherham United.

He hit the ground running at the Millers, however, he returned north after 17 games in which he managed three goals and two assists, falling out of favour towards the end of his stay at the League 1 side.

The Scotland Under-21 cap had also been linked with a move to Hearts but with Motherwell guaranteed to be playing in the Premiership next season it gives him the opportunity to get games under his belt and show what he is capable of on a consistent basis at a more appropriate level.

Where does Rangers "target" Lyndon Dykes current play his football?

He had left the Steelmen under a bit of a cloud after celebrating his move to Rangers prior to his contract with the Lanarkshire club ending, not the sort of thing that will enamour yourself with your current supporters – how he is received will have much to do with how he performs when he returns to the club that saw him make his name with an impressive 6 goals and 1 assists in 12 games in the second half of the 2018/19 campaign.

Hastie should look across the city and at Ryan Christie to see what a successful loan spell can do for your Old Firm career, a player who was once written off is now an established international – what the winger achieves in the future is very much in his own hands and he should grab the opportunity at Motherwell with both of them if he is to have a prolonged career at Ibrox.
