Rangers fans have been urged not to worry about Andreas Skov Olsen‘s lack of goals at Bologna, not just because Serie A is one of the toughest league’s in Europe but because of what he is being asked to do by his manager.

The Denmark international has just three goals and five assists in 71 appearances in Italy but according to Forza Italian Football’s Connor Clancy, as told to GiveMeSport, we should expect to see a totally different player if Ross Wilson gets his man:

“I am really hesitant to judge Bologna players under Mihajlovic but I think he has quite a lot of attacking potential.

“Skov Olsen has played a fair few times for Denmark as well, so there’s a lot of talent there.”

Because of the shape that Sinisa Mihajlovic plays, Olsen is frequently isolated on the right-hand side, operating as a wing-back but expected to get up and down to help out in defence and attack. Against Napoli on Monday night, because opposition teams know how Bologna set up, there were times when Olsen had two men on him as soon as he gained possession anywhere near the opposition box.

Playing for Rangers he would have a higher starting position and have the space to cut inside, he would also have James Tavernier over or underlapping him to keep defenders occupied.

From which country does Dundee United keeper Benjamin Siegrist come from?

Olsen is a different player for Denmark and the biggest reason for his is where he plays, because his starting position for Bologna is so deep, he rarely has the space he needs to be as effective in possession.

There is a lot to like about the 22-year old but judging him on his numbers in Italy just isn’t a fair reflection of what he is capable of, Clancy is right, the talent is there, he just needs the right club and manager to get the best out of him.
