If Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent are intending to leave Rangers at the end of this season, the only direction they will be heading is down the way.

Not many clubs are bigger than Rangers, however, at their peak, both players could have walked into most top-five league teams except, maybe, the truly elite ones.

On their current form though, there can’t be many teams in any of the continent’s big leagues that would entertain making a move even Kent off the back of his Europa League campaign last season and the attention that drew would struggle.

Speaking on Go Radio about Morelos’s current efforts, former skipper Barry Ferguson has decided that enough, is enough:

“If he’s trying to get a move, if there are clubs there watching him play, I just think he looked a way off it.

“I just think the best thing for both Rangers and Morelos is they part ways.

“Whether someone will come in for him in January I don’t know. Whether he’ll want to stay until the summer and go on a totally free transfer, we just need to wait and see.”

I always thought that Morelos would stay because he won’t go anywhere else where he is as important and get the same acclaim that he does at a packed Ibrox but this season he has been so far off his best that he isn’t even justifying his current wage, never mind the inevitable rise that would come with a new contract.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Morelos leaves now, I would be surprised though if someone actually offered us money for him in January though – a far cry from the player who was once our biggest asset and was the subject of a £16.25million rejected bid.
