Alfredo Morelos is up against it if he is to be fit for the Old Firm derby on Sunday, that’s if you believe some of the reports coming out of the Scottish media.
After reporting for international duty injured it was far from surprising to see that he has been sent back to Scotland to continue his rehabilitation. Hopefully he has had enough time at Auchenhowie on the treatment table and that we will get to see him in the training videos this week.
One man who believes that El Bufalo will be in the starting XI is former skipper Barry Ferguson who is adamant that nothing will stop him from walking out at Ibrox, as told to the Go Radio Football Show:
“He’ll play. I just know he will play.
“They’ll find him a way to get him on the field. I know he’s got a slight thigh strain, but I’m sure Rangers will do everything they can this week and make sure he’s fit, because he is so important to Rangers.
“You’ve seen the difference in him since Gio’s come in, he looks a lot sharper, looks a lot fitter, looks as if he’s in a really happy place.
“He’s scoring goals. I think his all round game has really improved. I was speaking to Gio and I was speaking to Roy Makaay about him, and they said that he’s worked really hard since they’ve come in, lost a bit of timber.
“That’s shown on the field with his performances.”
Fergie is right, there is no way that Morelos isn’t going to play, it is way too important a game for him not to.
Kemar Roofe has looked sharp in recent games but he just doesn’t carry the same menace that the Colombian does, we have seen on so many occasions how he loves big games and being the main man – his physicality will be essential in getting us up the park, there is no better striker in the country at winning a losing battle.
Not only do I expect him to start but I expect him to score, not only is he due a goal, he’s due one against them.
