Rangers are said to be in advanced talks to sign Juninho Bacuna from English Championship side, Huddersfield Town.

The 24-year old Curacao international has been on Rangers radar for some time and now, a deal appears to be close.

Gers boss Steven Gerrard alluded to being close to a signing, at today’s press conference ahead of the Europa League Playoff first leg clash against Alashkert, with the former Groningen man fitting the profile of the midfield target mentioned.

Earlier today, respected journalist Alan Nixon was quite vocal on the prospects of this move happening.

If this switch does come to fruition, it would appear to signal the end of Rangers chase for Joey Veerman, given the changed financial landscape with no Champions League riches on the immediate horizon at Ibrox.

Last season, the £4.5 million rated Bacuna registered 43 Championship appearances with five goals and four assists for the Terriers.

Overall, he has made more than 200 senior appearances, including experience in the Premier League with Huddersfield in the 2017/18 season.

It is expected that the move, if completed, will be a permanent switch to Glasgow rather than a loan with reports of an inexpensive fee involved.
