Rangers take on Portuguese giants Porto this week in the Europa League as we reach the halfway point in the group stages in the competition.

Come the end of the game on Thursday night, we’re going to have a good idea of where we might be heading this season in the tournament.

Indeed, we have two home games to come in the second part of the group stages, but we want to get a good result on Thursday night in order to provide a strong foundation for those Ibrox matches.

Steven Gerrard will be looking to name as strong a side as possible, then, but Charlie Nicholas has taken aim at one of the players we expect to see featuring in the clash; James Tavernier.

Speaking to Sky Sports, he said that the full back was, “a bit weak defensively.”

Of course, we know Tav is good going forwards but he’ll be eager to show Nicholas that he is wrong and make up for what happened against Young Boys.
