Rangers signing Aaron Ramsey on loan from Juventus in January was a major coup at the time, it was a gamble, albeit a calculated one, but one that we will only know if it was worthwhile at the end of the season.

Who knows where would be in the league if he had been able to hit the ground running, however, he has consigned that to the past and is only looking at what we can still achieve in the rest of the season.

Speaking as part of the pre-match build up for the Europa League quarter-final tie with Braga, Ramsey also touched on the chances of him still being at Rangers next season given that we have first refusal, as reported by Football Scotland:

“Now is not the time to go into too much detail. I still have a year left on my deal at Juventus so we’ll have to reassess the situation in the summer and see what they’re thinking.

“We’ll go from there. That’s something to be discussed at the end of the season.

“I’m feeling good. The thing I’ve been lacking over the last few years is consistency. I can still produce the numbers required and I have no issues with that it’s just getting consistency and into a bit of a rhythm.

“I’ve felt better and stronger and the games are coming thick and fast and hopefully I can play and show what I can do.

“I came here to win and to have the opportunity to play and show what I’m capable of doing. The main thing was we’re in three competitions and we want to be successful in all of them.”

We’ve seen glimpses of what Ramsey is capable of, he should have added to the two goals he has scored already against St Mirren only to fire his close range effort of the bar, getting away with it because we scored a minute later thanks in no small part to a neat pass that he played to put James Tavernier clear on the right-hand side. He also threatened on a few occasions against Braga, drifting in off the right flank.

There is still a chance that we can achieve success this season and Ramsey will have to play a key part if we are to have any chance of lifting silverware, he has to be at his best now, never mind where he plays next year.
