Rangers 26-year-old on brink of summer exit

|

Rangers will tell midfielder Jason Holt he can find a new club in the summer transfer window, as reported by website Football Insider.

The outlet say that while he has a contract at Ibrox until the end of next season, the club have no intention of renewing it and will tell the 26-year-old he is free to leave.

Too many players are ahead of him in the midfielder pecking order, according to the report, with this season’s loan club Fleetwood Town a potential permanent destination after regular football there under Joey Barton.

Ryan Jack, Glen Kamara, Steven Davis, Ross McCrorie and Scott Arfield are all preferred options in the middle of the park, with Greg Docherty expected to be pushing for a first-team place after his return from loan too.

Holt signed for the club back in 2015 and has gone on to make 116 appearances but clearly isn’t fancied by manager Steven Gerrard, who got rid of him quite quickly last June.
