A brief statement from the Finnish football association has alleged that once again, Glen Kamara has been the victim of racist behaviour from a fellow professional on the pitch.

The update comes following the Nations League ‘B’ – Group 3 game between hosts Montenegro and Finland which was won 0-2 by the away side thanks to second half goals from Oliver Antman (Nordsjælland) and Benjamin Kallman (Cracovia).

Following the highly publicised and long drawn out sorry saga over the Slavia Prague racism incident aimed at Kamara, which was further deepened last season against Sparta Prague, this is the last thing that the player needs but unfortunately it shows the mindset that still exists.

It is bad enough when it comes from fans in the stadium, never mind from opponents during the game, but this is what is claimed to have materialised the Montenegrin capital on Monday evening.

The short communication from the Finland camp, translated, stated:

“Suspicion of racism in Huhkaji’s match against Montenegro”

“UEFA has started an investigation into the racist behaviour of a Montenegrin player towards Glen Kamara.”

“Finland won the UEFA Nations League match played in Podgorica with a score of 0-2.”

The Finnish football body added that it will not be commenting any further, nor will the players, for the time being until more details emerge with the investigation now under way.

With the international window concluded on the pitch for Kamara’s Huuhkajat, he is due to head back to Glasgow to rejoin the Rangers squad in preparation for the crucial Premiership clash against Hearts on Saturday.

More will follow on this emerging story.
