Speaking to SPFL Matters on Sky Sports, James McFadden has underlined why Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos is one of the best the league has seen in years.
Many will point to Celtic forwards in recent campaigns and McFadden was using Moussa Dembele in his comparison between the two.
For many, Dembele was a real benchmark at Celtic and he got a move to Lyon in the summer, but there is a good case to suggest Morelos is better and McFadden has underlined why.
He said:
“Dembele was part of a very strong side. He wasn’t the only one scoring goals. Rangers have Morelos and the second top goalscorer is Tavernier on penalties. Morelos is doing a lot of it on his own… but he’s not playing with the quality of players Dembele played with at Celtic.”
Certainly, this is what people need to understand more.
Morelos is having his best campaign to date in an improved Rangers side but, for example, last season he was excellent too when we were not as good.
Would Dembele score as many as Morelos if he played in our side? I don’t think so, and it is clear that we have got some real talent on our hands.
