Andy Halliday produced another good performance for Rangers at Ibrox on Wednesday night and fans were delighted.
Not only did he again shine in the famous blue, he was handed the captain’s armband for the night in the absence of James Tavernier and looked every bit the kind of leader that makes supporters proud.
This time last year he was on loan in Azerbaijan after being frozen out by failed manager Pedro Caixinha, but he’s slowly worked his way back into the first team squad and under Steven Gerrard has gone from strength to strength.
The manager was full of praise for him last week, declaring him as the ‘unofficial captain’ in the dressing room. Clearly the Liverpool icon sees something special in the boyhood Gers fan.
Fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts on his Wednesday night performance…

Imagine you’re Andy Halliday and at the end of last season someone sat you down and said
“Don’t worry bud, next year Steven Gerrard will be your manager and you’ll walk out at Ibrox as captain”

Andy Halliday's performance as Rangers captain last night shows what can happen when a manager staunchly backs a player, fills him with confidence and the desire to succeed. Gerrard's man management has been outstanding with regard to Halliday, outstanding.
