Rangers have issued a statement that has gone down well with fans as players, management and other high earners have agreed to defer half of their salary for the next three months to ensure that non-playing staff do not face pay cuts, as reported by the BBC.

The report states that although some staff will been on the government’s coronavirus job retention scheme, the actions of Steven Gerrard and his team have ensured that they will continue to receive their full pay for the duration of the crisis.
The announcement comes a few days after Celtic announced that they would be taking up the scheme, but as yet, their playing staff has been unaffected in a huge PR gaffe, one that Liverpool identified and corrected with an apology admitting they got things wrong.
Rangers fans took to Twitter, proud that their Captain and Manager have led their side in a manner befitting the club’s standing and history.
Credit to the senior players who led this idea to the club. The players acted to ensure no staff lost their jobs & everyone will still receive 100% of wages
Everyone then acted as one, quickly and professionally
This has also allowed club to wait on ST renewals for our support

Rangers are in the process of a handover of Chairmanship and were about to embark on a share issue to secure additional funding for the club and rumours had been circulating about season ticket renewals to boost revenue, however, as a result of the players and management staff’s actions, fans aren’t being asked to fork out during a period of severe economic uncertainty, unlike their rivals from across the city.
