Rangers squad list has been updated for the remainder of the Europa League campaign, but there is still no place for veteran marksman, Jermain Defoe.

Back in October, the Rangers striker scored the 300th club goal of his career and having missed out on the European campaign so far this season, his exploits in royal blue will continue to be limited to domestic games in Scotland.

The 38 year-old England international reached the landmark with a stunning first time finish in the 2-0 win over Livingston in October, winning the goal of the month contest by a landslide margin.

With the updates to the squad, there are places for new boys Jack Simpson and Scott Wright, whilst Brandon Barker drops out, having left Ibrox on-loan.

Wright has already made an impression on the continental competition this season, he has three assists from three appearances in Aberdeen’s failed qualification attempt for the Europa League group stage.

The full squad list can be viewed here, on UEFA’s website.

Following Rangers journey to the Last 16 in 2019/20, they will be hoping to go at least one better this term.

Last time out, Bayer Leverkusen were just too strong for Steven Gerrard’s team, especially in the first leg at Ibrox in their 3-1 win which killed the tie as a contest.

That was also the final game before the explosion of the Covid-19 pandemic which curtailed the Scottish Premiership season.

Rangers will fancy their chances against Royal Antwerp in the upcoming games and although it will be a tough test, the Gers home and away victories over Standard Liege in the group stage will be a useful experience and gauge for the round of 32 clash.

The ties will take place in Belgium on 18th February with the return leg, one week later at Ibrox on the 25th.
