It appears that Police Scotland are well aware of a long overdue celebration on the horizon.

VitalRangers has been made aware of a police communication advising of  ‘disruption to duties’ and cancellation of rest days ahead of Rangers potential title clinching weekend days from now or otherwise on 21st March.

The above image has been circulated on social media and VitalRangers are merely commenting on it, in view of the widely expected Rangers fans celebrations.

If Rangers win tonight against Livingston and follow that up with a win at home to St. Mirren on Saturday, that would result in Steven Gerrard’s Gers being officially crowned champions on Sunday without kicking a ball, if Celtic do not beat Dundee United at Tannadice.

If they do take all three points back to Glasgow then the stage will be set for a mammoth day on Sunday 21st March with the Old Firm clash at Parkhead with Rangers only needing one point to confirm their status as title winners, for the 55th time.

Similar to the scenes in Liverpool last Summer when they ended their long title drought, it would be foolish and unreasonable to expect no scenes of celebration over the coming weeks.

The vast majority of Rangers fans will be respectful of the current situation but it is likely that there will be some gatherings beyond people’s individual homes.

This will be similar in some ways to the anticipated and expected pilgrimage of Scotland fans to London this Summer – regulations/circumstances permitting – as fans of the Scotland national team honour their first major tournament appearance since the World Cup of France ’98.

Given the decade that Rangers fans have had, as well as the pandemic situation of the last year, some perspective will be required with the outpouring of human emotion and joy, to mark the first Scottish top flight title at Ibrox since 2011.

There was also scenes of collective celebration at McDiarmid Park last weekend as St Johnstone fans celebrated their League Cup triumph.

With a police presence, a press report described the events as ‘good natured’.

A later report by the same source stated that a police probe had been launched with one officer and one steward suffering minor injuries following the 200 strong gathering.
