‘Please never leave us’ – Rangers fans reminded why 22-year-old may be Gerrard’s best signing

Lassana Coulibaly returned to Rangers action on Saturday and quickly reminded everyone why fans love him already.

He took just four minutes to find the back of the net, reacting quickly to Borna Barisic’s early blocked shot.

From that point on he looked excellent in the middle of the park, not missing a beat from when he last appeared a month ago. Eventually replaced in the early part of the second half, it was clear that Rangers have missed his contribution in recent matches.

Despite only joining on loan this summer, he could well prove to best signing of the many that have arrived at Ibrox since Steven Gerrard took charge of the club.

No-one else in the squad offers the kind of physicality and determined midfield play he is capable of, with the Malian international also eager to have an impact on the game further up the pitch.

Fingers crossed he is fit enough to face Villarreal in UEFA Europa League action this Thursday.
