Quoted by Football Insider, Alan Hutton has revealed how he had the chance to sign for Rangers a few seasons ago, but that nothing obviously really came of it.
The Gers had a strong transfer window during the summer.
Ryan Kent was the final act of what was a good market and we’re all looking forward to seeing what this squad can now achieve under Steven Gerrard.
With Alan Hutton becoming a free agent in the off-season, meanwhile, there was a suggestion that the Gers might look at getting him in but, in truth, the last time he appeared to have a chance to come back to Ibrox was a few seasons ago.
Quoted by the report, Hutton revealed:
“Not so much but I find it tough to go back to Scotland. Rangers is my team, I came through at Rangers and I just think to go anywhere else would be really difficult for me and I don’t think I would want to.
“Maybe a few years ago there was a chance at Rangers but again it’s probably a position that they’re not in a hurry to fill.”
Without a club and getting on in years, it could be fair to say we won’t see Hutton playing for Rangers again.
It would have been interesting to see him come in as a back-up this season, but I am not surprised we’ve not got him in so far.
