Rangers winger Glenn Middleton has hailed the impact of striker Alfredo Morelos after the Colombian’s stunning double that helped sink St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park on Sunday.

The 22-year-old forward netted his 18th and 19th goals of the season in the second half against the Perth side, firing the Gers towards three points having initially gone one down in the match.

He’s dragging Steven Gerrard’s side forward this season and is now proving that he is the best striker in the entire country.

Middleton, who provided the cross for his first goal yesterday, can’t get enough.

As quoted by The Daily Record, the teenager said of his teammate:

I think people are scared of him. He has a presence, he scores goals for fun and he’s not going to miss chances from those areas.

He can do everything, left foot, right foot and with his head, you name it, he will score goals.

You can see that when defenders are trying to foul him. That’s your biggest indication that people are scared of him as they don’t want to give him space to get on the ball or any chances to score goals.

We can’t just rely on Alfredo but if you put balls into the box and create chances for your number nine then he’s there to score goals. That’s what they are there to do.

One of the big priorities for the club in the January transfer window will be retaining the Colombian’s talents, with interest similar to the last couple of transfer windows expected.

Now he is playing his best football in a Rangers shirt, speculation he could be set for a move away will only increase.

If we can keep the forward fit and suspension free, we have a real shot of challenging for the Scottish Premiership title well into the new year.
