Things are going pretty well for Rangers at present. The Gers are currently sat at the top of the Premier League table, and though Celtic can return to the top with a win, we still would have taken the current table at the start of the season.

Gerrard has got his team playing well, and in truth, there aren’t many flaws in his squad at present.

However, there is one problem at Rangers that is beginning to get somewhat concerning, and that’s the disciplinary record at the club. This, of course, comes on the back of a sending off for Scott Arfield against Hearts at the weekend.

It was a sending-off that didn’t cost us in the end, given that we picked up the win, but he’ll, of course, miss our next fixture, and though the influence that could have is yet to be seen, we’re willing to bet that it will be significant.

However, this wasn’t a one-off occurrence. We’ve had three red cards in our last six games, and so on average, we’re picking one up every other game.

Now, we could argue for days about whether we deserved all of these, and whilst at least one or two of them were unfortunate, the point remains. We’re getting too many, and it’s becoming a problem.

Even if Sunday’s red didn’t matter, eventually it will happen during a tight fixture and it will cost us, and that’s a big problem for Steven Gerrard.

He needs to get his players back under control, and whilst it’s all well and good showing aggression and passion, there comes a point in which it has to be drawn back in. It’s a big problem at Rangers, and it must be solved.
