Bringing in a new forward is essential for Rangers in January. We’ve got a lot of quality, particularly going forward, but we’ve still lacked goals at points this season, and that’s been a problem.

Steven Gerrard can only work with what he’s got until the new year, but then, signing a bit of fresh talent could give our attack a new lease on life, and one man that could be perfect is Swansea City man Oliver McBurnie.

McBurnie is a versatile attacker that is able to play across the attack, both out wide and through the middle. He’s got bags of energy and ability on the ball, and that makes him a very willing runner. He’s a very hard-working player, which Gerrard would love, and whilst he’s willing to get back and help out – his main attributes come going forward.

Goalscoring-wise, he could be just what we need. He’s bagged 7 league goals in the Championship this season, alongside two assists, marking him out as one of the deadliest attackers in the second-tier of English football.

Significantly, at just 22-years-old, he’s still a young player, and so there is a lot of room for further growth under Steven Gerrard. Given that Alfredo Morelos is just 22-years-old, the pair could theoretically stay at Ibrox for years, and so they could serve as a long-term duo under Gerrard.

He’s a Rangers fan, and so a move to Ibrox would perhaps appeal to him, and that would only make him more determined to succeed at the club. Furthermore, Gerrard is also clearly a fan, as the club had an interest in him over the summer, according to the Star.

A move would be ambitious, make no mistake, but the rewards could be significant if Rangers can do a deal.
