Our season took a much-needed upturn over the weekend after we picked up three points, but it’s fair to say that the quality of our game must improve between now and the end of the season.

If we’re to stand any chance of domestic success, we need to start winning and impressing more regularly, and once the whistle is blown, it’s down to the players to make an impact.

Significantly, though, the January transfer window is on the horizon in just under two months time, and you can bet that Steven Gerrard will be eager to make a few signings.

One area in which Rangers could do with some more quality is the attack. The ‘Gers have a few forwards, but extra depth is always a good thing, especially given that we have struggled to score goals sat points this term.

Perhaps Gerrard could find a solution in familiar territory, as at Liverpool there’s one forward that could be a good signing – Dominic Solanke.

Solanke isn’t really involved under Jurgen Klopp at present, and so the Reds could be open to a temporary move away for the Englishman, but despite his lack of involvement, he’s got bags of quality.

The Englishman proved his natural offensive instinct for the Reds on occasion last season, but he’s not really been able to prove it on a regular basis owing to a lack of minutes. He’d certainly get more of those at Ibrox, and we could be the main benefactors of that.

He’s a lethal forward when given a chance, with his shooting and accuracy up there with the very best young forwards. He’s also agile and strong, whilst he’s also got decent pace, making him a real asset going forward. He was lethal for the Chelsea youth team and he’s done well during his time at various England levels, too.

All he needs is a chance and a bit of trust, and Gerrard could be the perfect man to give it to him. The boss was apparently interested over the summer – and a move in January makes more sense than ever before.
