Rangers, all told, have had a good season, but we’ve gone through a little wobble as of late. We failed to pick up three points against Dundee at the weekend, and one of Steven Gerrard’s biggest issues came to the fore once again.

For all of the quality within the Rangers squad, defensively we haven’t been good enough. Everyone at the back has had moments of poor form, and if we want to win the title, that can’t be allowed to continue.

Most would agree that Connor Goldson is a fantastic player and should be a regular, but his partner is, at present, still undecided – with a handful of players coming in and out.

One man that’s found minutes hard to come by in recent weeks is Nikola Katic. The 22-year-old started the season as a regular, but lately hasn’t been on the field as often.

This should change, as at present, nobody else is proving to be much better than him. Joe Worrall has had a difficult spell, whilst relying on a 39-year-old Gareth McAuley makes little sense in the grand scheme of things.

Katic, meanwhile, looked great earlier in the season, and whilst consistency has been hard for him to come by, it’s evident that the talent is there.

Gerrard has been quick to make changes this season, but in defence, he needs consistency. Nothing we’ve seen from anyone else in the squad has suggested that they have as much talent as Katic, and though he may struggle initially, Gerrard must start him regularly – as it could pay off long-term.
