Many Rangers supporters are losing faith in James Tavernier’s ability to captain the first-team after another dire result in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday.
Steven Gerrard’s side drew 0-0 with St Johnstone and we have ended the weekend eight points adrift of league leaders Celtic after they picked up a victory away to Kilmarnock.
After the match, the Ibrox boss slated his players, claiming there was no leadership on the pitch, as reported by BBC Scotland.
Is that a direct swipe at Tavernier’s captaincy?
Perhaps not, but it has raised the question of lack of leadership in the Rangers dressing room amongst supporters, with plenty feeling like the manager should make a switch and hand the armband to someone else.
Citing problems with communication and an acceptance of mediocrity, some fans believe it is one of the critical problems in Gerrard’s starting eleven right now.
These supporters took to Twitter this weekend to share their thoughts…
James tavernier, never a rangers captain.

Captain Tavernier?
We’d have more fight with Captain Mainwaring.— Gallus Pioneer (@Gallus__Pioneer) February 16, 2019
I like tav as a player he's takes so so much stick as a player which is unfair but fuck me the guy is never a captain doesn't argue any decision neither does he try and pick his players up. Imo Mcgregor is the only captain in this squad
