With a section of the Rangers fan base effectively writing off striker Alfredo Morelos over the summer, I’m sure many of them are delighted to see him continue to ram their words about goalscoring consistency back down their throats with his performances in front of the net so far in 2018/19.

With the Scottish League Cup tie against Kilmarnock at Rugby Park now ticked off the fixture list, Morelos again led to victory in the game as he helped himself to a hat-trick on the day to take his season tally to six goals in eight competitive matches as we continued our unbeaten start to life under manager Steven Gerrard.

The game was played amidst ongoing transfer speculation about the young Colombian with reported interest from French Ligue 1 side Bordeaux bubbling on in the background and suggestions, as covered, that we’ve already rejected a £3.75million offer from them for the 22-year-old.

His latest performance won’t do anything to quell the speculation but it’ll certainly help his price rise to a level that we simply cannot turn down, or become so high it rules out those clubs keeping a watchful eye on him and we continue to benefit on the pitch.

Now all he’s got to do is keep this going and if an eventual goal dip comes, keep working hard to create space and time for others to capitalise.
