With Michael O’Halloran heading back to Rangers in time to join the group in our trip to the States, following the expiry of his loan spell with St Johnstone, he thinks it was timed perfectly for him to get back into the swing of things at the club.

Having started his loan spell out with St Johnstone with five goals in six matches, he’s returned hoping to force his way in Graeme Murty’s plans.

Speaking to the Official Site this week, he explained.

‘I`m obviously delighted to be back. When I met up with the boys it was nice to see all of the faces again. I`m glad to be back in training, it`s been brilliant. It`s not a bad start this time round. It`s a lovely place obviously and it`s nice to get away from the damp and cold weather back home and have a break. We`re working hard, but it`s also nice to have the down time in the sun which is also good.’

O’Halloran went on to say of his spell with them, that unfortunately injury did get in the way a little bit.

‘Obviously he`s (Murty) welcomed me back which is nice, but I`d imagine at some point he will sit down with me to speak and tell me what his plans are and where he maybe sees me playing, which is good. I`m looking forward to getting that chat with him. For me at the time, I had to go out and get games because I wasn`t playing here. I knew that I was going somewhere where I was going to play and that I felt comfortable. It was good to go back there and I made a good start which was really good. I then had a little injury which kind of derailed me a wee bit which was disappointing. I rushed myself back and ended up doing it a little bit worse. I`d probably have gone on and scored a few more goals if I`d have been fit. I got back playing again at the end which was good and it was a really good time for me.’

Having struggled for game time under both Mark Warburton and Pedro Caixinha, O’Halloran is obviously hoping for a fresh start under Murty and helping him on that front is the fact he feels he’s coming back in the kind of form that led to us signing him in the first place.

‘I`d played so many games before I came here, that was the thing, I felt that I never really had a run of games. I went back there and played straight away which was good at somewhere where I was comfortable. I went and showed there what I can do at this level. I feel comfortable here and everyone had been brilliant with me since day one. I think for me, it`s the run of games and I never really got that. It was two games here, then three games there. It`s hard to get a bit of momentum going.’

Adding.

‘So hopefully this time I can come and work hard and show the manager what I can do and get into the team and play as regularly as I can. I maybe have a point to prove to some people, but I don`t think that in this league there`s any point there to prove for me. For me it`s important that I come and show what I`ve done at St Johnstone and do that for Rangers as well as that`s the club I play for and I`m really glad to be back.’
