Rangers striker Nacho Novo has thanked David Murray for his outburst last week. The Spaniard claims that Murray’s rant has inspired the team to two straight wins in the SPL.

The Rangers chairman lost his cool after the players poor performance led to the team being fifteen points behind SPL leaders Celtic and out of the CIS Insurance League Cup after a shock defeat to St Johnstone.

David Murray believes the players are to blame for putting their manager under pressure and if the keep on playing the way they are the could end up playing for Bristol Rovers.

Novo last night thanked the chairman for the rant and said it was probably just exactly what the players needed.

The forward who has scored four in his last seven games said: ‘We knew we had to come out of the situation we were in and the talk with chairman definitely helped us. We know what Rangers mean and we know what was happening was not acceptable.’

‘The chairman was only trying to help. He loves the club and he was right to say what he did. This result will motivate us, though the team spirit is getting better and we have decided to fight for everything.’
