It was being suggested earlier today that new manager Steven Gerrard may have an interest in bringing back Northern Ireland international and Southampton midfielder Steven Davis.
The 33-year-old made well over 150 appearances for Rangers during his six-year stay at the club after arriving from Fulham and although his departure left a sour taste in the mouth for some given everything else that was going on at the club at the time, he did leave with three Scottish titles, two Scottish Cups and three League Cups to his name.
He apparently has 12-months left on his contract at St Mary’s Stadium and having suffered a hamstring injury in the latter stages of the 2017/18 campaign, he did only make one appearance for the side from February onwards. Despite being skipper at the club and for his country, Southampton’s capture of former Celtic midfielder Stuart Armstrong might suggest that manager Mark Hughes is looking to move him on and that seems to be the basis for Sky Sports claim, as whilst they say ‘sources’ have informed them, the sources haven’t actually informed them of anything you would call concrete details.
Whatever accuracy can be applied to the report, it’s an interesting possibility for a few fans.

Too old, yeah I know he still playing well in EPL, not saying too old to still do a job, in terms of outfield players we need ones with sell on value, unless he is coming as player coach type role. Besides we have tons of midfield cover in the middle of the park.
