The exciting and encouraging performance from Alex Lowry unfortunately resulted from a worrying Ianis Hagi injury, which the Rangers manager admitted left a negative on the nights work.

To his credit, the teenager took full advantage of the opportunity afforded to him and we will definitely see more of him but the sight of Hagi limping off the pitch is a blow, with Joe Aribo still on international duty.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst stated that they would have to wait until tomorrow to assess the extent of the damage to the Romanian international but that it did put “a big negative” on the 4-0 victory over Stirling Albion in the Scottish Cup.

It appeared to be an impact injury to his knee area, when he attempted to get a shot away but didn’t see the oncoming defender.

Ahead of a very busy period with Livingston, Ross County and Celtic coming up next, the potential absence of Joe Aribo as well as Hagi would pose questions for the ‘number 10’ which has been crucial to Rangers attacking dynamic under GvB.

Now it’s a waiting game and fingers crossed before the alternative options need to be assessed for Wednesday night at Ibrox against Davie Martindale’s team.
