The American Dream concept dictates that individuals should have an equal opportunity to pursue success and prosperity through hard work and determination and whilst the US of A isn’t a level playing field in many aspects of life, Nacho Novo won’t be found wanting in making it big, starting in the state of Kentucky.

The Rangers hero has embarked on a new journey with Lexington Sporting Club, where he will intitially head up the U23 side as well as assisting the senior team coach, Sam Stockley who he played with at Carolina Railhawks.

As ever with the diminutive Spaniard, a native of the Galicia province, it is likely to be a colourful adventure as his playing days were.

Now, with this latest venture in his life, Novo is set on making an impression to pursue his aspirations in football management. He has been waiting on a chance for some time, as told to Rangers Review, whilst he unsurprisingly holds the late, great Walter Smith in the highest regard as an inspiration:

“I always wanted to go into coaching as soon as I finished my career but it’s so hard.”

“It doesn’t matter if you’re an ex-player or not, you need to wait for that chance and it’s about taking an opportunity when it comes. I want to prove I can be a good head coach and there’s nowhere better than to start here.”

“It’s an exciting moment for me. I want to build up myself to get to the top. I want to have three years here to prove myself and get better and better.”

The three-time Scottish title winner went on to speak of his other reference points given the managers he worked under, including Alex McLeish, as well as his current feeling on what lies ahead for him across the pond.
