Rangers fans are not keen on the thought of signing Barrie McKay after the Swansea City winger admitted he would love a return to Ibrox one day.
McKay left for Nottingham Forest in 2017 under something of a cloud. Once thought of as a serious prospect at the club, he never fully realised his potential and left for a fraction of the fee fans once imagined he would exit for.
He spoke to The Scottish Sun about a potential return, saying: “I have always said I would like to go back. If the opportunity ever came further down the line I would jump at it. You could say there is unfinished business. It is a huge club and it was an honour and a privilege to play for them. But for the moment I’m probably the most content and settled I’ve ever been at Swansea.”
That’s opened up the debate about whether the club should make a move for the 24-year-old.
Getting a regular game for Swansea this season, he is playing at a decent level but whether he would get a game in Steven Gerrard’s starting eleven is another story.
All our resources should be going into trying to sign Ryan Kent, who has lit up the Scottish Premiership this season in a way that McKay never managed to.
Many fans agree that he should not return, taking to Twitter to discuss it all this weekend…

If he’s on a free yes but think For the price we would have to pay we could get better

Wouldn’t get on the bench now. Did his stint and will always have that screamer v Celtic in semi final to remember. Let’s let it rest there.

Does he even get a game for Swansea ? I’ll pass

Couldn’t be trusted with the intensity going both ways that Gerrard looks for in his wide players. So much talent will go on to waste that with an average career. Had a great chance to kick on in England and after a flying start at both clubs has been found out

Decent player but not where we are looking to go, we should be doing everything in our power to sign Kent.
